| In the current tough economic climate, customers demand a greater return on their investments. Customers want to work with experts who understand their business and can help them achieve their objectives.
IBM Software is announcing the next step in our Business Partner channel strategy focused on Growth Through Skills. Business Partners who have the skills and expertise with the IBM software portfolio are well positioned to deliver greater client value. From October 1st 2009, IBM will launch Growth Through Skills - a new controlled distribution model which maximizes value to our Business Partners and customers.
IBM Growth Through Skills strategy is designed to drive channel growth and increase profitability for IBM and its Business Partners. The move to a new controlled distribution environment complements investments in recent years focused on delivering more value to the marketplace for our customers. This process began over five years ago when IBM software began supporting its Business Partners with technology education through the global Virtual Innovation Center (VIC) and IBM and Business Partner Innovation Centers (IICs). In addition, industry-leading channel programs such as Software Value Incentive (SVI) and Value Advantage Plus (VAP) have been available to continually reward Business Partners who provide expertise that customers require.
